Host: Hello. This is The Not A Lawyer podcast. Quick note first. Everything on this show is general information about Queensland law. It is not legal advice.
Host: I am not a lawyer. It is right there in the name. We checked. It is hard to get a name wrong that carefully.
Host: Here is the idea. Somebody in Queensland gets a letter, or a text, or a phone call from their boss. Their stomach drops. They do not know what the words mean, or what happens next, or who to ask.
Host: So each episode takes one plain situation. A notice to leave. Being sacked. A fine in the mail. We go through what it usually means, what you can do now, and who can help.
Why it is called Not A Lawyer
Host: Two reasons for the name. The first is honest. Neither this show nor I can give you legal advice. A lawyer who knows your whole story can do that.
Host: The second is about you. You should not need to be a lawyer to understand a letter about your own home, your own job or your own money.
Host: In every episode, a Queensland lawyer joins me and answers what a normal person would ask. You will hear "usually" and "it depends" a lot. That is not slipperiness. That is accuracy.
